Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor press conference falls embarrassingly flat in New York

Mayweather vs McGregor Live Fight, Streaming Online, PPV: The Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather publicity machine made its third stop on the promotional tour for the pair’s August megafight and both men were clearly short on ideas in New York. After arriving more than 90 minutes late McGregor finally entered the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn rocking colorful, floral pants and an extravagant fur coat with no shirt underneath. It was fitting considering he took aim at Mayweather for wearing tracksuits to their previous meetings in Los Angeles and Toronto. Things got weird when American rapper Doug E. Fresh started things off by trying to gee the crowd up while Earth, Wind and Fire’s famous song “September” was playing. Then the tunes changed and the hip hop returned as Fresh continued to try and spur the crowd on, but still there was something odd about the 50-year-old’s surprise appearance in the Big Apple. He kept asking those in attendance where they were from and how old they were. It was the start of a stand-up comedy routine but without the laughs.

Finally, the main act arrived as McGregor swaggered his way onto the stage, taking his fur coat off to the cheers of the crowd. Mayweather endured a different reception as boos rang out when he was introduced. Like he did in Toronto, the 40-year-old had the Irish flag wrapped around him before he threw it to the ground.
The suits started talking first, spruiking Showtime’s coverage of the fight. The crowd booed, stopping to cheer only when network executive Stephen Espinoza took his cue and walked off the stage after finishing his spiel. McGregor finally got the mic in his hands and didn’t waste any time belittling Mayweather and his good friend 50 Cent. “50 Cent is a b****,” McGregor said. “He’s bankrupt and you’re about to be.” He handed Mayweather a copy of Jay Z’s new album 4:44, which nobody seemed to understand. “We call that bombing, in comedy,” retired MMA fighter and comedian Brendan Schaub said.

Then McGregor addressed accusations he made racist remarks about “dancing monkeys” and was out of line for telling Mayweather to “dance for me boy”.
“Let’s address the race. A lot of media are saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f***ing ridiculous,” McGregor said. “Do they not know I’m half black? I’m half black from the belly button down.” Then he promised his “black, female fans” a gift and started gyrating his hips. Next, the Irishman started going on about his coat — which he says used to be a polar bear. Bizarrely, he asked the “weasel” Espinoza to turn up the air conditioning because he was going to be rocking that attire all night. It was some weird stuff, McGregor falling flat in comparison to his last two appearances. We were treated to another night of mayhem last evening as Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather clashed in New York. But after the excitement in Toronto, this press conference failed to live up to the hype.

Mayweather vs McGregor Live Fight, McGregor started well, delivering a Notorious BIG rap, but it was downhill from there. The Irishman addressed the idea that he had been racist in the preceding events by declaring himself half black – from the waist down. Mayweather also struggled for new material and at one stage beckoned his entourage on to the stage where there was a brief scuffle with McGregor in the middle. The boxing legend did make it rain – as he threw money around on the stage – but McGregor was quick to point out they were $1 bills. The pair are in the capital to promote their August 26 fight with the trash-talking set to continue at a sold out Wembley Arena. McGregor let his suit do the talking in the first press conference in Los Angeles when hidden in the pin stripes of his blazer was an explicit message for Mayweather. The duo then made appearances in Toronto and New York before flying into London to exchange barbs on the other side of the Atlantic. In New York, Mayweather draped himself in an Irish flag – as he had done in Toronto – and threw dollar bills at McGregor, branding the UFC star him “a stripper”. Source Link
